Lunch-out with my GF's family

After picking up my gf's parents from their sunday service we took our lunch in Marina at Timog, Q.C. It's my first time here (in timog i mean, not in Marina) and the place is nice. They have an open space for dining and for band performers, and a separate airconditioned dining room if you want to stay away from the heat of the sun.

Menu List

Sinamak (Spiced Vinegar)

my gf's brother (Bonyat) w/ their parents

and of course us
We were able to catch the promo - bottomless rice for every order of ala carte, which lasts until 2PM so we ordered 1 platter of plain rice for the oldies and 1 platter of adobo rice for us kiddies ;p. We were supposed to try their bagoong rice but was not able to since we were already full.

Anyway, we got Sinigang sa Batuan, Pork Sisig and Baked Oysters for our dishes and they're all yummy.

I'm so glad I was able to spend time with my gf and her family and it made me feel like I do belong. It's a great treat that Sunday and we really had our stomachs full.

My paintings

Here you can see my different paintings from oil pastels and watercolor.

My very first attempt on oil pastel. Good thing it didn't turn out bad (I guess) but it didn't turn out clean either. =p
Teddy bear

This one is made of watercolor. I found this picture in the internet and painted it. I think it turned out pretty nice.
Lovebirds
A lone rose. Made also of watercolor.

Single rose
This is my second attempt on oil pastel. I gave this to my girlfriend in our first Valentine together.
Moonlight lovers

3 roses for my baby. I gave this to my girlfriend before I left the company we are working together. It's a remembrance and this has a meaning.

3 roses for my baby

*** Violet rose ***
A violet rose represents love at first sight. It represents elegance, enchantment, fantasy and dignity.
*** Red rose ***
Red roses say "I Love You" and also stands for respect and courage.
*** Yellow rose ***
Yellow roses usually stands for joy and gladness, but can also say "try to care".

My Portraits

As I had promised, I'm gonna post my artworks, so here they are:

My very first portrait (actually meron na din iba pa since nung bata pa ako pero ito ung considered ko as serious sketching na talaga).

Another on of my favorite RnB singers. A very soulful voice.

Alicia Keys

A local artist here.

And of course my girlfriend. I love you! =)

My girlfriend =)

I haven't made a portait for quite a while now but I might be trying to make my parents one. And that won't be the end. It's just the beginning so wait for my future portraits. =)

I'd love to train a dragon

Set in the world of Vikings and dragons, Hiccup, a boy who struggles to belong in his clan encounters a 'cute' black dragon entangled in ropes while wandering the woods. Not having the urge to kill a dragon which the Vikings were trained to do so, he untangled it and gradually became friends with it. This turn of events will change the history both for the dragons and Vikings.

Character design is great! The facial expressions especially with that of the black dragon is outstanding. You can feel the understanding of both Hiccup and his dragon. We had a really good laugh on this one. The story isn't that complex so you need not have to concentrate on it. Just enjoy the animation and have a good laugh.

An adaptation based on the book written by Cressida Cowell. Even though I haven't read the book yet I think this animation did justice to it. This 3D offering is awesome!

Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy. You'll definitely learn some tricks in training a dragon, like I said earlier, in case you encountered one. Definitely a 10/10 for me.

My tools on expressing my creative side

ART is always expressed using lots of different medium today. I have tried various medium myself trying to find out the one I'm most comfortable with. Ranging from a simple pencil of course to paint tubes. As of today I have tried charcoal and colored pencils, oil pastels (which I haven't ventured that much yet), watercolors, and oil paint.

Here are sample "tools" that I use in creating Art:

Faber-Castell Colored Pencils

My Faber-Castell Colored-Pencils. I use them in making portraits. Sample of which I will show in later posts.

Oil paint tubes

Here is a set of cheap oil paint tubes I bought in National Bookstore. I bought this because it will only be my first time using this medium so as an experiment, I got this one. The result of this, I will show in my later posts.

Any medium can be used in painting or sketching. It doesn't matter if the output won't turn out great. What matters is that you enjoy what you do and you're comfortable in what you're using. You experiment and create your own style.

MISCONSTRUED!!! Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief movie

Oh well what can i say... the movie is a bit off context against the books. I think it'll better off to be a stand-alone movie and not based on the book itself because the plot is vastly changed.

I can understand the possible reasons of the director why he changed the movie plot because it's really hard to contain all the details of the book in more or less than 2hrs of movie. For all of you who have read the novel you're in for a surprise on this movie.

Let me enumerate to you guys some of the important parts of the movie that was either changed or removed:

1. No Clarisse and Ares. For those of you who have read the novel, you know the importance of these characters.

2. Hades was brought out bad guy and an antagonist when he was supposed to be a cool business-minded god.

3. Dropping the storyline of Hades' invisibility helmet and only making him want the lightning bolt.

4. Annabeth was the leader of the red team in the capture the flag not Clarisse, who was not included in the movie, thus making Annabeth the opponent of Percy.

5. Luke is like so evil and wise that he managed to fool the gods. Keep in mind he is only a demi-god.

6. No prophecy, thus making it the quest for the 3 pearls. If I can remember it right these pearls are only given to Percy by a naiad.

A good movie in terms of effects and only if you haven't read the books yet. But I won't suggest you to watch it unless you really wanted to.
