First try of DSLR

After buying our friend's DSLR last month we were only able to try it out yesterday when we went to Paco park for a quick test and very first photo shoot.

Being new to DSLR requires of course a little patience especially when you're about to go manual. Well, in our case we needed just little adjustments since we're slightly familiar with manual settings because we've been using Canon SX200IS for quite some time already.

Some of the major adjustments we took notice of are:
1) looking through the viewfinder instead of using live view
2) adjusting the zoom lens while getting the proper focus at the same time

It's a great feeling owning a DSLR. Personally, I felt like I'm on a different level than others. hahaha.. I'm not boasting just "feeling" =).. The feel of it on one's hand is very different from a point-and-shoot camera.

The place is small but with good landscape. With the old-structured walls and big trees everywhere add to that the small shrine for GOMBURZA and Jose Rizal, this place is indeed a good place for beginners like us.

So after a hard sweating afternoon and trial and error session we came up with these shots.

As you can see there is still so much for us to learn. More practice and photo shoot sessions may do the work but for now we'll just enjoy this great 1st time experience.

More photo shoots to come!!!

Lunch-out with my GF's family

After picking up my gf's parents from their sunday service we took our lunch in Marina at Timog, Q.C. It's my first time here (in timog i mean, not in Marina) and the place is nice. They have an open space for dining and for band performers, and a separate airconditioned dining room if you want to stay away from the heat of the sun.

Sinamak (Spiced Vinegar)

my gf's brother (Bonyat) w/ their parents

and of course us
We were able to catch the promo - bottomless rice for every order of ala carte, which lasts until 2PM so we ordered 1 platter of plain rice for the oldies and 1 platter of adobo rice for us kiddies ;p. We were supposed to try their bagoong rice but was not able to since we were already full.

Anyway, we got Sinigang sa Batuan, Pork Sisig and Baked Oysters for our dishes and they're all yummy.

I'm so glad I was able to spend time with my gf and her family and it made me feel like I do belong. It's a great treat that Sunday and we really had our stomachs full.
